Web design

Website design in Newport, planned around your customers.

We design websites that explain what you do in seconds, look sharp on every screen and make getting in touch the obvious next step. No templates dressed up as bespoke, and no guesswork.

01Why design matters

Most websites don't fail because they look bad. They fail because visitors can't tell quickly enough whether you're right for them.

Someone lands on your site from Google or a link a friend sent. They give it a few seconds. In that time they're trying to answer three questions: what do you do, is it for someone like me, and what do I do next?

If the answers aren't obvious, they leave, and you never know they were there. That's why we treat web design as a business problem first and a visual one second. The colours and typefaces matter, but only once the structure, the message and the route to an enquiry are right.

For Newport businesses competing with bigger names online, this is often where the real advantage is. A clear, honest, well-organised site can outperform a flashier one that leaves people guessing.

02What's included

Everything a website needs before it's built.

Our web design service covers the thinking as well as the visuals. Here's what you can expect from a typical project, scaled to the size of your site.

Discovery and goals

A proper conversation about your business, your customers and what the website needs to achieve. We look at competitors and at what's working, or not, on your current site.

Sitemap and customer journeys

Which pages you need, what each one is for, and the routes people take from landing on the site to picking up the phone or filling in a form.

Wireframes

Simple layouts that settle what goes where before anyone argues about colours.

Copy support

Help shaping your words, or full copywriting if you'd rather hand it over.

Visual design

Layouts, type, colour and imagery that suit your brand and your audience.

Clickable prototype

Try the key pages on your own phone and laptop before a line of code is written.

Accessibility built in

Readable text, sensible contrast and layouts that work with a keyboard and screen readers.

A clean handover to the build

Designs prepared for a smooth build, whether we develop the site or work with your developer. See our website development service.

03How a design project runs

Structure first, pixels second.

We work in stages so you can see the thinking, give feedback early and avoid expensive changes late on.

  1. Listen and research

We talk to you, look at your market and your current analytics if you have them, and agree what success looks like.

  2. Plan the structure

A sitemap and page-by-page plan, so everyone agrees on what the site needs to say before we design how it looks.

  3. Wireframe the key pages

Plain layouts for the homepage and main service pages, focusing on hierarchy and calls to action.

  4. Design and prototype

Full visual designs for mobile and desktop, linked into a prototype you can click through and share with colleagues.

  5. Refine and sign off

We work through your feedback together, then prepare everything for a smooth build.

04Is it right for you?

A good fit if you want a website that earns its keep.

We're likely a good match if

  • Your current site looks dated or doesn't reflect how good your service actually is
  • People visit but don't call, book or fill in the form
  • You're launching something new and want to get it right first time
  • You'd value straight advice over a long list of add-ons

We might not be the best choice if

  • You need a one-page site live by tomorrow
  • You'd prefer a do-it-yourself website builder and are happy to manage it alone
  • You're looking for the cheapest quote rather than the best result for your budget

05Design and search

Designed to be read, and to be found.

Good design and good SEO pull in the same direction. Clear headings, fast pages, a sensible structure and content that answers real questions all help visitors and search engines alike.

When someone searches for a service in Newport, Google wants to show them a page that's relevant, quick and easy to use on a phone. We design with that in mind from the start, rather than bolting it on afterwards.

  • One clear topic and heading structure per page
  • Room for location and service detail that reads naturally
  • Layouts that stay fast and stable as they load

What is the difference between web design and web development?

Design is deciding what goes where and why: the structure, the layout, the words, the look and how people move from one page to the next. Development is building it so it works, loads quickly and can be edited. We do both, but they're separate stages, and it's worth signing off the design before a single line of code is written.

Do I need to have my content ready before we start?

No. It helps to have a rough idea of what you want to say, but we usually plan the content together during the structure stage. If writing isn't your thing, we can write it for you or turn your notes into something that reads well.

Will my website work properly on phones?

Yes. We design for small screens first, then scale up to tablets and desktops. Every key page is designed for mobile, not just squashed down from the desktop version, and we test on real phones before launch.

Can you work with our existing logo and brand?

Of course. If you already have brand guidelines, we'll work within them. If your branding is a logo and not much else, we'll build out the colours, type and image style around it so the website feels consistent.

How many design revisions do we get?

We agree the number of feedback rounds in the proposal so everyone knows where they stand. In practice, because we plan the structure and share wireframes before any visual design, big changes late in the day are rare.
